This was my first time reading a full book written by Coates. Overall it was extremely well done and well written. It is unapologetic and well researched drawing from his own experiences as a black man in the journalism industry and from those he spoke to.

At times I wish he trusted the reader a little more. I think this is an excellent read and can be read by anyone even if they do not possess knowledge of Palestine and the like. That being said, I found some of his reflections to be a bit derivative and as if he was holding my hand.

Still an amazing book and I look forward to reading more of his work in the future.
