The Way We Make Sense by Dawn Karima Pettigrew

5.0

I fell in love with this book while working with it for my Master's Thesis on the representations of Indigenous birthing and motherhood in contemporary fiction. I'm surprised that Dawn Karima Pettigrew has not gained more attention as a Native American author. Her prose is lovely, her characters are heartwarming, her stories are unique, and her depictions of urban Indians are poignant.

I highly recommend that you read this book in conjunction with [b: The Marriage of Saints|1949034|The Marriage of Saints A Novel|Dawn Karima Pettigrew|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1328814810s/1949034.jpg|1951888] because the stories tie in together.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Definitely pick this up and read it.
