Deeply love Ocean Vuong, and Time Is A Mother is a wonderful addition to his repertoire, though perhaps not as powerful as his prior works. There are many resounding imagery and a haunting but hopeful thread that carries the collection of poems and stories. However, compared to some of his prior works, where I found myself eagerly re-reading every line and page to marvel at his language, the writing here didn’t quite draw me in as powerfully. Nevertheless will be returning to this book frequently and will continually be impacted by Vuong’s writing.
