Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper

4.0

So I loved this book but I did spend quite a bit of time being seriously frustrated by Jane’s unfortunate circumstances which felt a bit too overblown at times – which is why I cannot give this book at 5 star rating.

I feel like if I met Jane we would be good friends, though her impulsiveness and insecurities would drive me nuts, but she would have me laughing constantly. Of course given her passive aggressive and just aggressive family members make this understandable. I feel grateful to never have experienced that level of interference in my life. Luckily, Jane doesn’t really agonize over it, or much, she just rolls with the punches, laughs about it and moves on.

Luckily there are some great people Jane know and meets and those characters really helped me read this book without throwing it against the wall (well, my phone against the wall). Zeb is a great friend who attends meeting for friends of the newly turned and meets Jolene, a loving, exuberant werewolf. Jane’s ghost aunt Jettie, Andrea her new vampire blood friend, and Dick Cheney (no not that one!) – her new lascivious vampire friend.

I was not a big fan of Gabriel, Jane’s sire, who seemed to be intense when he was there are just absent when he wasn’t. I am glad he was following her home, though, and turned her into a funny vampire.

I guessed the mystery of who was causing trouble for Jane early – and that whole plot was totally hilarious. I loved it!

The audio was great, I really enjoy Amanda Ronconi's narrations.
