The Words of Kings and Prophets by Shauna Lawless

I am in LOVE with this series. I think once people hear about it, it’ll become much more popular because it’s so good.

The ending of the first book made me really excited to pick up the sequel and I enjoyed it just as much, if not more. The characters in this series are so interesting and fleshed out. I love how they feel like real humans, because often characters in fantasy books just don’t have realistic reactions. The scheming behaviour of Gormflaith and the kindness and motherly behaviour of Fodla are so contrasting, it makes for a really great dual perspective read.

I do enjoy an Irish history book, but throw in some Viking’s and I’m your gal. The setting is so vivid, but I also don’t know anything about the mythology and it hasn’t affected my experience one bit, so don’t let that put you off jumping in!

I’m glad I don’t have to wait TOO long for the final book, but you best believe I’ll be reading it as soon as it is published. A new favourite fantasy series for sure.
