I feel like this book was quite different from the first, it felt different reading it. I enjoyed all of the banter between Iris and Roman in Divine Rivals and there wasn't much of that in Ruthless Vows, it was definitely more serious. I suppose in the midst of a war between gods and attempting to save so many lives, the witty flirtatious banter wasn't their priority. But I feel like the lack of that banter affected my perception of their personalities a lot in this book. The character development for Dacre and Enva was good and the storyline was great but I found myself wanting more of Iris and Roman together. I wanted them to have that coming together finally safe "yaaaaaas!" moment and I just didn't get it. I'd say this was much more of a Fantasy book than a Romantsy book like Divine Rivals was. I still enjoyed it though.
