This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter

5.0

If there's one thing I can always count on, it's a Karin Slaughter story to get me out of my reading rut. This book was fast-paced, shocking, and disturbing. My heart has never ached for a fictional character as much as it hurt for Mercy. Not saying she was without faults or mother of the year, but she did her best with the world's shittiest hand. My only downside with this book is the over-description of the setting. It does go to show the different levels/ways of processing amongst the characters, but it felt overly-complicated.
