I am Ophelia.
Talk about a "looking in the mirror" type of book! Ophelia's discovery of her truth was VERY much like my own and when I tell you I cried, I mean I CRIED.
I absolutely LOVED the messiness of the characters and the friendships in this story. I loved the flower metaphors and the discussion of literary theory on love. I loved how this book understood what it was like to hide inside a familiar story for eons and then struggle with upending others' perspectives of you. It understood the beauty and joy in delighting in gray answers and I loved every second of reading Ophelia's story.
This book celebrates messiness. It celebrates growth and discovery and owning your truth in a way that healed a bit of my guarded little queer heart. If you loved You Should See Me in a Crown and Cool For the Summer, I think you will love this even more. This book understood my story and I'm so thankful it exists.
