Still Beating by Jessie Walker
5.0
My sweet broken boys. That is how I've called them from the first page of the first book. Because that's what they were. Still are. Their story is painful, and terrible, and wonderful. They both had to go through so much... So yes, they are broken, but their love is so strong and pure that it spills into their cracks, gradually healing the wounds of the past.
In this novella that [a:Jessie Walker|835380|Jessie Walker|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/u_50x66-632230dc9882b4352d753eedf9396530.png] gift us, we see them trying to be strong while Way is in Los Angeles recording his first album with the band and Will is waiting for his return home. And now is where the real challenges as a couple begin. Because they are struggling, and they are needing, and they are missing. And they must learn to face their own demons while being away, knowing that while they are just a phone call away, it's not the same as being in each other's arms, supporting and comforting each other through nightmares.
And Will realizes that he needs Way as much (or even more) as Way needs him. And more importantly, Way begins to understand that too, and he realizes that in this relationship he is not only taking but giving, conforting Will when he needs it most.
It is wonderful to see how little by little they are growing, how they are healing, how they make an effort, especially Way, to be a little better every day and although their relationship is still a little unhealthy, they are learning to communicate better and to know when to ask for help. They are loving each other, stronger, more committed than ever, and that makes it very, very difficult to say goodbye to them, because one always wants to see that love that shines around them, driving away the darkness that surrounded them for so many years.
I was given an advance copy and wrote voluntarily a review.
