This seems like maybe it was just the wrong time for me to read this book. I absolutely loved the concept of the book and the writing was beautiful, but it was just way too slow for me. There were bits of danger and adventure sprinkled between what seemed like slow monotony. I enjoyed the fantasy bits, but I wish they were more incorporated in Nannerl's real life more, whereas it seemed more choppy to me. Unfortunately I also found those parts very predictable so they didn't hold my attention as much as I wish. I do really love the reason for the story, to explore the life of a woman whose talents and hopes and dreams were squashed just because of her gender. To imagine all the women who either had to work in secret or not at all. I think if you are in the mood for an emotional fairytale then this is a good book for you.
