Crush It!: Why Now Is the Time to Cash in on Your Passion by Gary Vaynerchuk
4.0
You may or may not know who Gary Vaynerchuk is... he's an online presence among a million online presences, but if you like wine, he's probably a guy you've heard of, or you may have even listened to one of his irreverent podcasts. Regardless of what you think, the guy had built himself a decent following and a small celebrity status using the internet, and that's what this book is all about...
As an internet marketer, I found this book not so much revealing, as refreshing. It's nice to have someone else explain what I've beaten my head against the brick wall of old-school PR marketing trying to say: social networking is the place everyone should focus at least some of their messaging. And it's true. How much information do you get from this site, or Facebook, or YouTube, or even Twitter that you didn't learn from traditional information sources like television or print? The internet has changed how we learn about things, and this book talks about how and why you should use them.
And he brings up one very important practice when it comes to using social networking as a marketing tool... PATIENCE. Things won't change over night, but as I've experienced in my nearly 7 years working in this field, when it hits, it hits big. But you have to work your butt off to get it there. What Vaynerchuk points out is, if what you're doing is your passion, it won't feel like work.
