Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

3.5

This reminded me a lot of the Smythe-Smith quartet (especially Just Like Heaven or The Sum of All Kisses, I can't quite recall which).  Anyway, I usually give these steady predictable slow burns with just a little spice 3 stars but this book pulled me out of my listening slump so it gets 3.5!

Julia Quinn knows how to write period romances where the women don't like to fit in boxes and their suitors admire them all the more for it.

Billie was the hetero Gentleman Jack!

I own the second one in this series (The Girl with the Make-Believe Husband) because Dad bought it for me at The Ripped Bodice because the title reminded him of me... so tbd if I read that one or listen. But maybe I'll skip around. I definitely think I'll make my way through all of Julia Quinn's series in this lifetime.
