I never would've picked this book up on my own, but it was a gift from the professor I was tutoring for.
I really enjoyed this book. It's not my usual cup of tea, but it was incredibly informative about the War on Drugs, and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to read more diverse YA fiction.

Graphic: Death, Drug use, Violence, Police brutality, and Grief
Moderate: Addiction, Cursing, Drug abuse, Racism, Murder, and Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal death, Sexual violence, and Trafficking
There are LGBT characters (the protagonist has two aunts who live together; his brother is gay; his cousin is gay and in a F/F relationship).
The themes of this book are very heavy, and I wouldn't recommend this to younger YA audiences.
