“Having a gentle man like this one choose you to be a part of his private, insular world. To be as special as each thing he carefully surrounded himself with. How lucky that woman would be.” ~ Briana Ortiz

I relate so much to Jacob, especially his overthinking and his view on rewatching series for their predictability. I related to everything Jacob felt and explained, particularly about liking people at a distance. His thoughts reflect my own reasons for avoiding relationships, so it’s comforting to see someone with these feelings be depicted in a relationship.
I loved that they wrote letters to each other. It felt so personal and special, and kind of raw in a way that made their relationship feel authentic. I liked how Briana didn’t change for the relationship, but she adapted to make him comfortable (as did he). And she validated his feelings!
I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending. While we got all of Briana’s history, it felt like all her trust issues about the relationship came out of nowhere. We didn’t get any real glimpses of her thoughts throughout the book, not even from her inner monologue. It just felt a bit out of place.
