Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez
4.5
“Sometimes I feel like the seasons could come and go and come and go, a hundred years could pass, a thousand, the ground could collapse under us, this house could crumble and go back to the earth, and we would still be standing here frozen in time, because every second I’m with you is eternal. I’ve never felt anything like it.” ~ Justin Dahl

I love that I guessed Emma’s ancestry from the start. It wasn’t really hidden, but I’m still overjoyed I was right. I liked following Emma’s thought process throughout the book. While I didn’t always understand her reasoning, I could see why and how she reached her conclusions.
I loved Justin. He was great, especially with his funny questionnaires and follow-ups after the dates. He was so healthy as a boyfriend, clearly influenced by his upbringing. Justin exemplified the saying, "If he wanted to, he could."
I appreciated that Justin set boundaries after six months. He acknowledged his love for her but emphasized that the trust was broken. He was honest even though it hurt both of them. I love when women make grand gestures. The only thing I felt was missing in that scene was a discussion about going slow, rebuilding trust, and not moving in right away.
P.S. I loved the cameo with Neil! We love people who go to therapy and actively work on themselves.
