The False Sister by Briar Ripley Page
2.0
I hate to be the first person reviewing this. I think this just needed more development, either into a longer fleshed out book or into a more concise short story. It's in a strange middle place between novella and short story, between teen and adult, it just doesn't snap into place for me. I dig the concept but it doesn't really get going until the last 30 pages and could use a bit more depth and connection to the characters. It really feels like a Fear Street or Christopher Pike book from the nineties, which I think was intentional, but the writing style for those is fun and forgettable whereas this almost has too much intention behind it to be gobbled up like one of those. It's just in a strange place for me. It either needed a heavier hand or a lighter one, snappier or slower. I love the author, I'll support anything he writes, this just wasn't it for me
