A romp that doesn't take itself seriously, and immediately undercuts itself by having absolutely unsound political theory. A bunch of aristocrats wanting to overthrow the monarch to rule over their lands without oversight... is anarchy? Alrighty. The very suggestion of peasants having a better life is met with immediate suspicion, because that smacks of... totalitarianism? The main character literally shivers at Karl Marx's name.
This was written in 1969, so there's of course a willful woman needs to be put in her place with a good spanking. Because overall the real problem is that the queen is too haughty and that's why the kingdom is in turmoil.
Despite all that, it's fun.
