Another cracking instalment in the Alex Verus series. This time apprentices are going missing and Alex is asked to investigate. This leads him to the Whitestone Tournament at the peculiar residence of Fountain's Reach where the truth may or many not be connected to attempts to frame him for the murder of another apprentice. The ending is magnificently creepy and heart in the mouth at the same time.
