Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

3.0

This was okay. A bit too long for my taste. I feel like this story could've done without the murder mystery aspect of Addie's great-grandmother because I just could not give two shits about it.

Also, I don't think Adeline should be a self-proclaimed "manipulator" because we don't see manipulate shit in this book. We're told that she apparently does, but we don't actually see it.

The ending felt a little lacking too, but I can't put my finger on why. I'd comment on the nonconsensual sex, but I knew what I was getting myself into when I opened the book initially because there's a rather extensive list of trigger warnings.

All in all, it was okay. I had my issues with it, and while I may have the second book already, I don't know if I'm going to ever read it because I don't know if I can handle more of Adeline's stupidity.
