I'm In Love With The Villainess Volume 2 really elevates what was a little joke yuri manga to a true piece of queer art.

The world, story, characters all feel more real and the we see Rae's feelings towards Claire manifest in a very earnest way outside of her spit on me attitude of volume 1.

The action is drawn really well and the artist does a brilliant job making the characters look great even in their uniforms.

The queerness in this volume truly is levels ahead of other Yuri and it's ot even that much but Rae talks about being gay explicitly with the word gay and see some talk about prejudice. We also see glimpses of homophobia facing Rae both in her past life and in this one. It adds a layer of depth that make the jokes and romance all matter more, it all feels so real.

This is just a really special piece of art I really love, I am very excited to see this series animated and to read more of the manga and maybe eventually the light novels as well.
