The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan

5.0

Beautifully written and absolutely heartbreaking. This novel was about all the ways love appears in our lives and was an moving portrait of grief, regret, repair, and the ruptures that death of those we love can leave in our lives. 100% wept while reading. Expect magical realism, color, and an incredible turn of phrase on almost every page. Easily one of my favorite reads this year in any genre and while I'm putting it in YA, I think it would work just as well in adult literature. Read it, read it, read it, and keep your tissues handy.
