American Scary: A History of Horror, from Salem to Stephen King and Beyond by Jeremy Dauber

Did not finish book. Stopped at 10%.
I love horror so much that I teach a college course called Horror & Culture. I had high hopes for this book both for my own information and possibly required reading for the class. I just couldn't get into the book. I liked the idea behind it, but the writing was very dull and the constant use of partial quotes inside his sentences hurt the readability of his style. Even though I love the subject matter, I have too many other books that I want to read that will be pleasant experiences, so I had to stop forcing myself to read this one.
