Honestly, Jane Harper could do no wrong. All of her books have a tense, dark undertone. Each mystery is well written and Harper is an auto buy author for me. 

This one was no different. In a small, close knit town an outsider is murdered. It is the off season, so there are no tourists to blame. Our main protagonist is back in town years after the accident that took his brother and brother's friend. This death rocks the community as K struggles to help solve the case and come to terms with the accident that has racked him with guilt for so long.
