Past the Breakers by Lucie Archer

1.0

Casey North's restaurant burned down, then his girlfriend left him, and he decides to go back to his hometown of Land's End and stay at a beach house while trying to pick up the pieces of his distraught life. Myles Taylor wakes up on the beach as a ghost and is drawn to the last place he was staying while he was alive, the same beach house Casey is residing in now.

I did not like this. It sounded intriguing and different, but it just fell flat for me. This story was repetitive, and there where simple questions that weren't answered, why couldn't Joe tell Myles? I got a feeling of a high power at play here, destiny perhaps but if that the case what was the point of Myles dying? So, they both could meet? If so, neither seemed particularly attached to their previous relationship, couldn't they have met before Myles "died"? I did like Miss. Archer portrayal of Rachels kids, in my experience, not many authors can represent a child's character, ether making them sound too young for their age or vice versa. Overall, if you're looking for a romantic, paranormal read that goes very light on the plot then this might be for you if you want a heavier plot then keep looking.
