Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this! An easy YA read that was still engaging was exactly what I needed after a rough semester. You definitely need suspension of disbelief with the way the technology system works, but I tend to have an easy time with that so it didn't mess with my immersion at all. I also was really touched by the way Rho's grief over losing her dad was written, I felt like personally it was very accurate to my own navigation of grieving the sudden loss of my own dad. The ending was also really shocking in a good way, definitely a plot twist I wasn't expecting that totally broke my heart for her. I do have a feeling Mathias isn't actually dead somehow, but I guess we'll see.
Romance-wise, I do *as of right now* kinda hope she ends up with Hysan (assuming Mathias isn't dead). I feel like he understands and respects her more and the age gap is a wee bit strange with her and Mathias.
Anyways, gonna take a break from this series for a little bit but I'm excited to read the second book!
