Things We Hide From The Light by Lucy Score
5.0
TWNGO was truly such a smashing first book that I was not sure how the next one in the series was going to fair next to it, but I should have not doubted it was going to be just as amazing. For a little bit there I was not convinced this was the same level, however, with the way that Lina stuck around (can't say more than that without spoiling anything) I could not deny that this was a huge five-star book any longer! Lucy Score writes books that are so easy to fall completely into and I just could not put this book down, I was hooked.
Sweet, sweet Nash. I loved this sunshine man. Seeing him deal with everything and thinking he was never going to have light in his life again hurt my heart a lot. Watching him grow throughout the book was great. The Morgan brothers went through so much and watching both of them overcome that past in their books was hard but also heartwarming when they finally broke through it all. Lina was a badass and I was obsessed with her from the start, she's just so cool I want to be her. I loved watching her embrace what the small town had to offer her and make her own family with new friends and Nash. Together they were great, I love the reverse grumpy sunshine dynamic and with Nash being the chief it just upped the good boy, bad girl routine. I am glad they got their happy ending.
Piper deserves her own shoutout because honestly Nash and her together were just great. I loved that he got her sweaters so she wasn't cold and slowly watching him be able to take care of another living creature when he was so in his head about not being able to care for others. Also the scene of Nash and Lina rescuing Piper with Stef driving by was just too fucking good lmaooo.
The cameos of Knox, Naomi, and Way were just as amazing as I thought they would be. The epilogue had me bawling my eyes out. It was just perfect seeing them all get to that moment. The bonus epilogue as well was just great, I just love seeing the future everyone created together with this group of people. Waylay in the grocery store was my hero, she is one of the best kids in a single guardian trope I have ever read about lmao. I found Knox so funny in this book, like domesticated Knox was my favorite ever, and the one-liners this man had SENT ME. I can't lmao. These characters are just so special and getting to read the continuation of their story was the best. Excited for Lucian and Slone's story later this year!
