What a story. No wonder this memoir is so popular. I've been completely captivated throughout the audiobook. As someone from a working class family with a PhD, I could easily relate to the difficulties Tara's describes in entering the academic world and feelings of belonging. She truly had some of the worst starts but managed to build up her own life regardless. I'm very impressed and glad she wrote a memoir about the process and how that altered her view of and her relationship with her family.
