I don’t know why I continue to read this authors books, when I am very rarely blown away. And when I say rarely, I mean, I’ve only really loved one of her books. But I always hope that something will be different and something will be better, and I am always disappointed which is maybe why I am rating this book so harshly.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this is necessarily a bad book, and I feel like a lot of people love this book, and for good reason. But for me, after reading so many books by this author, all of them just feel the same. They feel like carbon copies of each other. The male lead is always slightly broody, but easily falls in love very quickly, which I never like instant love romances. The smut is always the same with maybe slight variations here in there, and the bedroom talk, and the pet names and nicknames are always the exact same. If you have read one Tessa Bailey book, you have read them all.

The plot went nowhere in my opinion, and I felt like the conflict at the end of the book was not even a conflict at all. The romance was OK, but it didn’t really excite me in anyway. And I found two of the side characters who made a brief appearance (which is obviously a set up for the second book) had more chemistry than the main couple in this book. Which will probably make me read the next book, even though I’m rating this so low.

I think the reason why Tessa Bailey is addicting to many readers, and why even I keep coming back is that her books are just so easy to consume and to read. So when you’re having a hard week and you want to read, but don’t have the energy or willpower her books are perfect for those moments.

Tessa Bailey has the potential, but every booked me just feels the same and until elevates her writing, characters, dynamic and add more representation in her books, she’s just going to continue to drop for me.
