the book’s concept was really interesting and it’s format (the epistolary aspect) was something that really appealed to me but it was poorly executed 
the characters just fell flat for me like there wasn’t much substance to them and it’s so obvious the book was relying on intense gore to carry the plot. But gore alone just never makes good horror. I just don’t get the hype at all
