The Cat Who Saved Books by Sōsuke Natsukawa
5.0
I loved this book! “The Cat Who Saved Books” by Sosuke Natsukawa is a delightful read. Rintaro, withdrawn and introverted, inherits his grandfather’s old bookstore and gets drawn into a magical quest to save books by a speaking tabby cat named Tiger.
His adventure changes him profoundly, and as he discovers more about the importance and values of books, he also discovers more about himself and life.
The story is a wonderful parable in which I recognized much of myself and my own relationship with books. The lessons Rintaro learns about himself and life mirror the lessons I’ve learned through reading.
Just like Rintaro, books have profoundly changed my perspective on the world and my attitude towards others.
Rintaro’s journey is not just about saving books from being mistreated or forgotten but also about understanding the true power of literature.
It's a heartwarming story about finding courage, caring for others, and the tremendous power of books. Can’t recommend this book highly enough.
