Hour of the Olympics by Mary Pope Osborne
4.0
Way back when I was a kid, all of the coolest girls in my grade had an impressive "Magic Tree House" collection. I wanted to be just like the "cool kids" (what kid doesn't), so I began a collection of my own... totalling maybe 5-6 books. As soon as I began collecting these books, the cool kids moved on to different books.
I always enjoyed history ever since I was a kid. There was something about Ancient Greece that I was drawn to ever since I started reading about the Greek gods and goddesses in elementary school.
Hour of the Olympics is the story of Jack and Annie's adventures in Ancient Greece where they witness the first Olympic games. My biggest takeaway from the book is that women were not allowed to participate. I remember being very sad by this fact in spite of being an extremely unathletic kid myself.
All in all, this was a cute chapter book. I would recommend this book for children ages 8-10.
