This is a fascinating retelling of Frankenstein set during the Iraq War. There are many narrators, and none have the full story of what is happening around them as they deal with a mysterious monster, corrupt government, and outside interference from the United States.
While told through many narrators, this story is also told through a journalist and government documents, which adds to its realism! While listening, it becomes clear that the "monster" is driven by the inhumane treatment that the people it is made of experienced and by their anger.
As a reader, you are never certain of the realness of the monster and the honesty of the narrators, which only adds to the story!
