The Last Hours by Minette Walters
5.0
Summer, 1348. The Black Death has reached the shores of southern England. This horrific diease spreads rapidly across the country; killing thousands within weeks. Many fear that God has sent this pestilence to punish all tiers of society. Noble, priest and peasant - all succumb to it.
The Last Hours sees how the small village of Develish in Dorsetshire tries to survive this epidemic with the help of the intelligent Lady Anne. This is a thrilling and gripping book. It's filled to the brim with suspense. The character Lady Anne is very much ahead of her times, as she sees peasants equal to nobles. She's strong and intelligent and you can see why she's beloved by her tenants.
This book is worthy of a 5 star read. I cannot wait to read the sequel.
