Pride and Prejudice, Emma and Persuasion are my favorite Jane Austen books and I'm always on the lookout for more retellings!
My recent read - Elizabeth Of East Hampton was another fave of mine! It was such an excellent modern P&P retelling and I loved how the authors put their own unique spin on it while certain elements remained the same.
I loved reading Emma Of 83rd Street earlier this year and I was hoping for a P&P retelling too - and it definitely did not disappoint 😆
Elizabeth Bennet(Lizzy) has been helping her family run their bakery in the Hamptons after her father's stroke. She has put her plans to get a master's from Columbia on hold and is busy taking care of her family. And she doesn't have a good impression of the Manhattanites who come over to the Hamptons every summer and leave later while the lives of the residents remain the same. So, when Charlie Pierce and his sisters move into their summer rental along with their friend - Will Darcy, she isn't too impressed by Will who seems a bit cold and arrogant at first. But, when Lizzy's sister Jane and Charlie begin dating each other, things start to slowly change!

I loved how each and every individual character was so well developed in this one! Both Lizzy and Will were so relatable and I loved the slow burn romance between them. Though they might seem like opposites at first as they butt heads at every turn, we also get to see the similarities between them. And I totally loved the voicemail that he leaves her 😆
I found it really cute that Jane and Charlie bonded over their mutual love for Doctor Who! And the other Bennet sisters were so hilarious with Lydia being an influencer and Mary, an environmental activist 😂 I also liked how realistic both Lydia and Mrs. Bennet were - without making them too obnoxious. There were so many hilarious scenes too!

I'd highly recommend this one if you're an Austen fan or if you're looking for a fun rom-com!❣️✨
P.S. I hope we get a Persuasion retelling next!
