The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
4.0
This book is a modern reinventing rather than a retelling of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, which is one of my very favorite classics. It is told from the point of view of Elizabeth Frankenstein who doesn't have much of a voice, if at all, in Shelley's classic. If I remember well, we only get to know of her by what Victor Frankenstein tells about her. Here, Kiersten White gives Elizabeth a voice to tell her own story. I didn't expect at all the turn of events in the story, and the twist was fantastic!!
Of course, nothing can ever beat or come even near to the original classic; nevertheless, this is worth reading. Except that I found a few parts in the beginning and middle a little slow, overall it was an easy, quick, and very good reading. Again, the twist was fabulous and so very clever!!!
