I absolutely loved every single second of Faking the Fall by Julie Christianson. I have thoroughly enjoyed each novel in the Sweater Weather series, but it’s pretty safe to say that this book is my favorite. This story has real humor. I laughed out loud in several scenes, and then had to explain to my husband why I was laughing so hard, which had him chuckling as well. I love stories that produce so much joy I can’t help but share with everyone around me what I’m reading. In addition to good humor, I absolutely adored the characters, both main and secondary. Hadley is a positive, down-to-earth woman who genuinely cares about others. She is a music teacher who authentically loves her students. And her friendship with Nina is so great! It reminds me so much of my relationship with my teacher bestie. James is Super-Saver Man. His protective streak is a million-miles long. If James sees you as friend or family, he will literally give you the shirt off his back if asked. He always puts everyone first. James stressed me out a little because taking on every single loved one’s problems at the expense of self can cause some serious physical and mental health problems. I was stressing James would get an ulcer at some point in this story. LOL! But that is the beauty of Hadlink — together, Hadley and James are the perfect mix. Their chemistry is palpable and the romance is swoony, but what makes them a great couple is how they put each other first. They are there for one another to lean on during the tough times. I really liked seeing this in a modern-day romance. As far as the secondary characters go, I so loved Hadley’s dad and her boss. They brought additional joy and humor and love to this fun story. Sam is totally the best. I love his banter with James, and his moments of wisdom are perfectly timed — just when James needed it the most. As mentioned above, Nina is Hadley’s BFF. I really love how supportive and encouraging she is to Hadley, but I also appreciate how she shakes Hadley out of her comfort zone. We would all be blessed to have friends like Sam and Nina in our corners.

There is so much more gushing I could do about Faking the Fall. Suffice it to say, I loved this story and truly cannot recommend it enough. If you are in the mood for a highly engaging, totally endearing, and well-written Contemporary RomCom, then Faking the Fall is the book for you!

I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on September 20, 2023, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
