Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

5.0

So I don't want the Maas lovers calling for my head... but like Chaol is probably my least favorite character. So it took me a minute to get into this book considering it's just him and Nesryn. Nesryn I love. I have to admit I'm glad I did the tandem read with this one because it made it so much more. I struggled a bit in the beginning of this one because we were getting a whole new area and new characters and so I had to take all of that in. I will admit they are super interesting characters. I think I really enjoyed the magical healers. Yrene was easily a loveable character.
A lot of the first part of this book is Chaol still being filled with a bit of self loathing for everything that has happened up until this point. I have to admit I loved watching the way this developed because it did given him more of a likable dimension for me. I have to admit I was shocked at all the reveals that happened in this one. It was a lot of political manuvering with Chaol and Nesryn trying so hard to get the khaganate to join forces with Aelin to win this war. However, once we got to the mountains with the ruk riders we start getting some interesting and like mindblowing background information. All of a sudden we are getting bits and pieces that might prove crucial to the war ahead.
I have to say that despite not liking Chaol at the start of this one I truly enjoyed this one because of all the elements we got. I know some major reveal is coming soon and I'm dying to know what it is. I am honestly invested in this story and the characters and I don't know what is coming next.... I am utterly terrifed... but with writing like this... it'll be worth it.
