Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

5.0

This book was absolutely beautiful. Ng writes prose with such dexterity, and I was amazed by the feeling of suspense that permeated throughout the novel, despite knowing nearly everything that was going to happen from the first chapter. Indeed, as the plot progressed, I found myself hoping against hope that the ending wouldn't actually be what was previewed at the beginning, falling more and more in love with all of the complex characters and wishing for happy endings for them all.
Part of me is waiting impatiently for a sequel because I am desperate to know what happens next, but the greater part of me is so satisfied with this unsatisfying ending. Ng created something beautiful here, developing many characters with their own unique voices, perspectives, and idiosyncrasies, and the painful, tragic end of the novel is all the more powerful without knowing what happens next.
