The Devil's Due by Bonnie MacBird

4.0

I already liked the previous two books from Bonnie MacBird's Sherlock Holmes series, so I was excited for the latest addition. MacBird stepped up her game once again and the Devil's Due is the strongest book in the series so far. I really, really enjoyed reading this new adventure for Holmes and Watson which features the thrilling case of 'The Alphabet-Killings'. Well... at least I enjoyed the first 340 pages. The solution of this murder mystery, unfortunately, fell a little flat. But up until then this was an entertaining and action-packed Sherlock Holmes novel, which captured the victorian atmosphere and holmesian spirit perfectly. Long story short: I didn't like the destination, but I definitely enjoyed the ride. I'm looking forward to Bonnie MacBird's next Sherlock Holmes pastiche.
