Goodreads wants to know what did I think......

I thought the story was engaging for the most part. I thought Bryce was a bitter ADULT who acted like a teenager. I thought Hunt was hot! I loved the banter between the two. I thought the book could have been shorter because there was some slow places (and not just in the beginning where the world building happened; I actually liked that part.). I thought parts were really sad and I cried a few times. I would have liked to have seen more of the friendships fleshed out a bit but we did get a good peek inside the friendship of Danika and Bryce.

I also thought the writing style was a bit juvenile, but seeing as this was SJM's first foray into Adult fantasy, I can give her a bit of grace on that. What drove me a bit crazy though was reading a sentence with "him/her" used referring to someone mentioned previously and having to read back a few sentences to find out which him/her she was actually talking about! Her subject/pronoun connection wasn't clear.

I'm a new fantasy reader and tiptoeing into the genre, so I think this was a good start for me. Even though I had some issues with this book, I highly enjoyed the story and I will be continuing on with the next book when it comes out as well as some of SJM's other works.
