“A dragon without its rider is a tragedy. A rider without their dragon is dead.”

I never thought I would ever have read this book but here we are. I am glad to say that I actually enjoyed this more than I thought possible. The only parts I didn’t like were the parts where Dain talked :). Because honey why were you talking in the first place? I just wanna say that it should’ve been him who got the fate that Liam got because OMG! I cried my eyes out and I still feel as though a knife is being driven through my heart!

“You have me your heart, and I’m keeping it.”

Xaden was totally such a likable character from start to finish. I never had an instance where I didn’t enjoy his character. If given the chance and if I didn’t already have a real life boyfriend I would totally marry Ridoc and be happy for the rest of my days. And guys I have a total secret to share but I am actually Rhiannon – yes, yes I know this may come as a shock but Mrs. Yarros totally thought of me when creating her character. From the skin color down to her personality. IDC!

“I am the sky and the power of every storm that has ever been. I am infinite.”

Okay now – Violet (VIOLENCE – such a cute nickname btw) – I love the power she got from her dragon(s)! I mean come on! How many fantasy book characters do you know have the same power(s) as Violet! I know none to be honest with you.

Garrick, Bodhi and Imogen were amazing too. – At this point it just feels like I’m rambling but oh well. The found family element to this book was such a memorable thing. The passion to do any and everything for the people you care about will never fail to be great to me!

“Dragons don’t make mistakes.”

I would love to have Andarna and Tairn as dragons if I was ever a character in this series. Andarna was just so wholesome and Tairn never failed to be hilarious and so relatable.

The ending of this book was very much written perfectly - it builds on for what the next book will be about! I wouldn't say cliffhangers are my fav but this one was on for the books

Here are some other quotes I really enjoyed!

“People die, it’s going to happen over and over again. It’s the nature of what happens here. What makes you a rider is what you do after people die.”

“Stubborn silver human”

“There is nothing more sacred than the Archives. Even temples can be rebuilt, but books cannot be rewritten.”

“There’s nowhere in existence you could go that I wouldn't find you, Violence.”

“There’s only you, Violence. – Even when I’m not with you, there’s only you.”

“We’re riders, we defend the defenseless. That’s what we do.”
