That was something... Unfortunately the first half was extremely long, you could cut at least 1/4 of the book...

Apart from that, the story fascinated me and I think that Maven is a very complex character.
Unfortunately, Cal didn't develop at all in this part either and although he is the main love interest, you hardly get to know anything about him.

I think the political story is very well written and interesting, but the characters are lacking in depth.

The ending has a nasty cliffhanger, but luckily there's still the next book.
