Phew, this book was unfortunately not good! Typical 2nd part of a series - filler...
Only the ending took everything out again, especially the last sentences! I think the next book will be very brutal and interesting.

About the characters:
Mare becomes a negative character and that's important for the development, but she still made me aggressive.

I think Cal was like a side character in this part, I hope to see more of him in the future.

I did have one shock moment. I would have needed a trigger warning there and that was - the m**der of a baby.
That made my stomach hurt and shocked me.
