Even with the magical realism theme, this book is incredibly realistic. The found family, the themes of wealth (or lack of), and just the overall emotional rollercoaster. I sat down to read this because it was a short read, thinking it’d be interesting, but it blew me away. The MC’s voice is so strong, so relatable, and the way she learns who she is and breaks a generational cycle is so well done.
