Loved this!! In this we are following our main character Queenie who is a 25 year old Jamaican, living in London, working at a newspaper and living with her white British boyfriend Tom. After they go through a messy break up, Queenie's life begins to spiral out of control and we watch as she slowly begins to pick up the pieces with the help of her family and friends. This book manages to touch on so much and while I was not able to relate to every single thing Queenie went through, I still was able to relate to her in some way. This book touches on interracial dating, abusive/toxic relationships, the value of therapy, body positivity and loving yourself from the inside out. I enjoyed Queenie's friendship group and how they all had different opinions of her situation, they didn't all just tell her what she wanted to hear and this group of friends was in no means perfect. I liked the family dynamics and how even though her family situation wasn't ideal, they were still there for her in her time of need. This girl went through it all from issues with her relationship, an issue within her friend group, she had an issue to deal with from her past within her family and all this even trickled down to her career. I think there is something for everyone to relate to in this story. If this author puts something else out I will be sure to pick that up as well!
