This was absolutely fantastic. It was perfect from start to finish. This is a long one at over 350 pages, but did that stop me from reading it all in one day? Heck no, I devoured this.
Overall I would describe this as Tender. It has a lot of big emotions, especially as these to grapple with some past traumas and their ability to open up and move forward. Especially Leon’s story. Gah, I cried on numerous occasions. Watching them support one another and work through the emotions…swoon.
But don’t be fooled. There is lots of great snark & humour, particularly from Chris, who is the most reluctant boyfriend there is (and yet pretty damn good at it when he stops trying not to be). He is nothing short of dramatic, but he’s also kind and loyal (just don’t let him know you know). His fighting himself to not want Leon more than once was delightful. And Leon is a fantastic person, who you can’t help but like, and can always count on. And sexy...a tall and tatted marshmallow of a man. Yum!
Seriously, Jay does an exquisite job of navigating through all the emotions, moving between deep and flirty, while still feeling uplifting, happy, and darn right sweet. This was such a perfect pairing, with so many amazing moments. I’ll definitely be reading this again.
