A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

One of the Most Beautiful Works of Art I've Experienced

It's a fact that every creative endeavour that isn't tainted by bigotry and harm makes the world a more wonderful and rich place. For me, this is one of the most significantly beautiful and moving. I am at a loss at how much depth, emotion, joy, humanity, and wisdom are contained in this small book, especially without a hint of stuffiness, pretentiousness, or fart sniffing.

A monk goes on a journey to find their purpose, but discovers a different answer.

That is such a trite and unhelpful summary that conveys nothing of the tone, colour, and incandescence of this story, but it is the outline.

I found this book to be a comfort and provide succour that I didn't know I needed. I wish I had a better way with words because saying it made me a cup of tea and took my soul in a warm embrace sounds so ridiculous and up my own arse, but it is how I feel.

There were times when my eyes glistered from the gorgeousness of the prose, times when they were pricked with tears, and I was sobbing at the end.

I can't say anything more than I adored it, I can't thank Chambers enough for writing it, and Grosland's narration is so wonderful that I will listen to some other things they have done on their performance alone.

Shout out to my non-binary, agender, and all Queer/ Genderqueer siblings!
