I devoured this book, it definitely kept pulling me back to my kindle but the plot and characters didn't seep into my thoughts during everyday life. Reading a lot of fantasy can get tiring but I felt like I had no problems understanding this world (even though I haven't read Caraval). It has a storybook feel to it that makes understanding the magic in the universe much easier as it's so similar to common fairytales I heard growing up. I'm looking for a bit more simplicity in my fantasy worlds these days and this book delivered that without being boring
