Teague Wars: Phase 1: Emerald X by Brandon Hoy
4.0
Stars: 3.8/5
So I picked this book up at Galaxycon Richmond after meeting Mr. Hoy himself. He had me sold on the fact he said this book was kinda like the legend of Zelda games. He was right!
You have Phoenix, (your hero) who becomes an orphan because the town he lived in was attacked by mercenaries. He goes on to grow up and meet a bunch of people that happen to wanna do the same thing he does … basically save Osiren (the world).
I think the world building was great, but however, I do think that some of the of the characters seemed a bit shallow. I had trouble reading about a third of this book, but after getting past it, it was really good. If you hesitate about books with cliffhangers, this one does have a pretty decent sized one at the end.
Overall I’d recommend Emerald X to any young adults or teenagers looking for a good fantasy/adventure filled book.
