Fairy Cakes in Winter by Lane Hayes

4.0

I love Lane Hayes' stories. She is one of my must read authors. In fact, one of my favorite books and favorite couples of all the ones I've ever read belongs to her (well, who doesn't love Matt and Aaron?). Anyway, I couldn't get into this book.

I mean, I loved the plot, the description of the places was so vivid that it seemed that you were there with them, and the mini sized cakes? I would like to try them now!

But I couldn't get hooked on the characters, and I really don't know why. I think it's something personal to me, because really, I can't find fault with this book.

Theo is a shy man, but he is also upfront and loves to chat. He wants to change his career, or rather, he wants to put it to better use, and he starts by giving Scott advice.

Scott is more closed and grumpy, he trusts almost no one, and he walked away from relationships after a bad experience, he even moved to another country to get away from it. But everything changes when he meets Theo. Little by little the walls with which he protected his heart begin to crack, and although he is determined to deny it, he begins to feel love again.

So... It's a beautiful story, full of feelings and banter and steamy moments, a little bit of anguish, but in the end they have their HEA.

I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
